Today, we took spelling to a whole new level....cookie spelling! The students used cookies with letters on them to make our spelling words! It was fun and yummy!

Flashlight Friday
One of my goals this year (and every year) as a teacher, is to instill in every student a love of reading. We have been doing different reading challenges, AR contests, and just reading some fun books throughout the year. But by far, my favorite activity is flashlight Friday! Every Friday, we will spend some time reading...by flashlight! This is a great time to encourage students to start moving from picture books to chapter books. I love seeing the students get cozy with a book! Here are some pictures from our first one!

Money, Money, Money.....Money!
Yes, that's right! Our second graders have been practicing their money counting! This week the students grouped up in pairs of two and practiced counting several different amounts and combinations of money. You can practice this at home by giving students real dollars and coins to count! Let them count it out at the store! They will love the real life application!
Upside Down Spelling
The second grade class has jumped right back into school in this third semester! They are working so hard! Especially in spelling! This past week, students wrote their spelling words...while upside down. Well, as upside down as we can get!
