Over the last few weeks, these hard-working second graders
have been locating and filling in each of the fifty states on blank maps. Just
this week, they completed their study of the states! They finished up their
study with some United States Bingo! Be sure to check out their awesome maps in
the hallway outside the second grade classroom!

Valentine's Day
Hey everyone! So we had a great valentine's exchange yesterday! During math, we graphed candy hearts and in the afternoon we decorated bags, made some cards, and then exchanged valentines! The students had a great time and everyone did a super job on their valentine cards! Here are some pics!

Story Writing
One of my favorite things about being a second grade teacher is the stories that your students write! And this class has some amazing authors! They worked so hard on a recent story about an ice cream shop. They turned out fantastic! We took two days to write these and then edited them and then wrote a final draft for their journals. I captured a cute moment during their rough drafts. They are allowed to sit wherever they want during story writing as long as they are working hard! It was so precious to see them working so hard!

Sword Drills
One of the things I love to teach during Bible are the books of the Bible. We have been learning them through song for several months, and we recently started conducting Sword Drills. Not only do they have fun doing them, but they are learning to navigate the Bible by book, chapter, and verse. Feel free to practice these drill at home as a family!

Secret Code Spelling
I wanted to share these pictures with you from a spelling activity last week. Students wrote their spelling words using a special code key! Then, they traded their secret codes with a neighbor and tried to figure out what each mystery word was. It was super fun and I have never seen these guys so intent on a spelling activity, but they worked for almost 20 minutes in complete silence! They also had a lot of fun solving their neighbor's secret code and learned their spelling words at the same time. There are a lot of pictures! I hope you enjoy them!
