Letters To Soldiers

Happy Thanksgiving! Our class had an awesome opportunity to write Christmas letters to share with soldiers who will not be able to be home for the holidays. The students took a lot of time to make these letters special. What an great way to serve others this holiday season! Here are the finished projects!

Buddy Reading

One of the best way to practice reading is by reading aloud, so once a week we are going to do an activity called Buddy Reading. Students are paired up with a buddy and each week one buddy will get to choose a book and read it to their buddy. Both students may then take an AR (Accelerated Reading) quiz on the book. This is a great opportunity for the students to show off the reading skills they have been practicing during reading groups as well as read some of their favorite books to a friend! Here are some pics of our first buddy reading!

The Fifty Nifty States

I am so proud of my second graders! We trekked through facts about all fifty states and made some really awesome and colorful maps this year. To finish out our states study we played United States Bingo! Here are some pics for you!

Telling Time!

So today we did the unthinkable....we wrote on the desks! Oh no!! (Don't worry I tested it before we did it.) Today we learned to tell time to the five minutes. The students drew clocks on their desks to practice telling time. They wrote both the hands for the analog clock as well as the digital time. They did a fabulous job! So parents....don't let your kids ask what time it is!! You can ask them!
